It was such a lovely afternoon, but no time for the usual e-mail traffic, so, at the last minute, after a few quick texts, Keith, Colin and I ventured out at 2:30 pm., hoping to be back before the light went.
We headed east along the Deeside Way and then up through Crathes Castle - the steep-ish way - and out the north end and round in a loop past the Hirn recording studio and Battle Grounds Paintball and down past Collonach Plantation to the Deeside Way.
All of this was new to Colin so we took him on another little adventure down under Crathes bridge and past our favourite spot for photos:
The cycle back from there was fairly straightforward and we made it to the safety of the Legion in the gathering gloom, with Ken P standing at the bar waiting for us. By the time we'd downed a swift pint - or two - it was pitch black outside for the short journey home. No coppers around thankfully.
It was a 32 kms ride, with almost 700 feet of climbing - https://www.strava.com/activities/423152239
