So it was that 2 groups headed west from the Guide Hut on a glorious morning - half an hour apart. A quick phone call at 9:30 to the early risers established that they were at ITE on the way to Platform 22, so the later starters headed off in a similar direction, but via a slightly shorter route through Home Farm.
The separation was relatively brief with us all meeting up in due course at one of our favourite coffee stops. There we had an interesting exchange of views about how this situation arose - and fingers were pointed! We were still friendly enough to pose together for the team photo, however:

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of the Freewheelers currently in hot foreign parts, the "snow" you see at the foot of the tree is, in fact, ice dumped from Platform 22's freezer! In fact, this morning was one of the nicest we've had in recent months, with bright sunshine, glorious colours and hardly any wind.
Ian Sharp then made a suggestion that the later starters - he, John and I - having cut off a bit of a corner on the way up by not going via ITE, should extend our trip a little by heading further west and going round past Torphins Golf Club before heading over the back road via Campfield. We invited the early birds to join us, but they declined, so, suddenly, we were two groups again.
Here's John's map of the route the late starters took:
My Strava shows a distance of 33 kms with climbing of over 1,100 feet - https://www.strava.com/activities/435455353. Strava also shows that I was out on a solo ride yesterday afternoon - a Crathes-Myrebird Figure of Eight:
Rufus was also out on a short 5 kms run yesterday, and Les was out again on Tuesday, covering 22 kms on a fairly flat route on the Algarve.
