"After recent turnouts in double figures it was somewhat surprising to have just 4 Freewheelers assemble on such a lovely morning. So gentlemen in Banchory still a-bed shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, and hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks, that rode with us upon the World Book day!
With
this stirring speech and much deliberation of route we set off looking for
sunny roads, Jeff took the lead and we headed up Tilquhillie road, past Minonie
Farm over March Burn and then the descent down to the Slug Road. We passed
Crofters and took a loop back onto the Slug road as Park Bridge is closed.
Another quick descent took us across the Crathes Bridge and a welcome scone and
coffee at the Milton.
Following
this we cycled through the grounds of Crathes Castle and headed towards
Banchory, took an interesting track past a new housing development and emerged
on the Hirn Road. We then headed by Burn o Bennie to the Raemoir Road where a
decision was taken to split up; Jeff headed to Strachan and John, Ian and me
added a loop by Brathens and Inchmarlo.
Elsewhere, Les was out on his bike again this morning, covering 39 kms and 222 m.
