Monday madness

Mike reported on Monday's ride:

"Lost in the Woods

Six brave cyclists defied the weather and were well prepared for whatever mother nature chose to subject them to. After the usual humming and hawing plus some coughing and spluttering from Sharpie, Ken B, Jack, Chris, Drew and myself headed for something called the "Shoulder of Scolty".

After much puffing and panting we came to a dead end with only walking paths ahead, Chris went to investigate them but returned to say we had to retrace our steps and find the turn off - much to Sharpie's disgust after having climbed an unnecessary big hill and amidst murmurings of yellow cards!

Drew and myself led the way and belted down this path for a bit, only to find that no-one followed, suspecting that again we had taken a wrong turn we headed back up the hill to meet up with the others and this time take the right route - more talk of yellow cards!

On reaching Strachan and after looking at the sky ahead it was unanimously decided to give up on the plan to have coffee at Potties and to follow my fiendish, alternative plan to follow the good weather and to head for Crathes, half way up the Garrol the murmurings began and even more talk of yellow cards!

After turning off we passed the windmill and headed down to the Slug road and on to the Milton, where we enjoyed our coffee and scones. Unbelievably there was even more talk of yellow cards for not stopping and considering getting to the Milton along by the river - for all this talk of cards, I've yet to see one, do they even exist and if so what is the penalty for getting one?  A return via Crathes and Hill of Banchory concluded a most enjoyable afternoon on the bikes."
