Instead and slightly off-piste, but worthy of note, Iain Wright sent me this brief report of an interesting time he and John Morton had:
"Peterhead to Inverness by Sea
Straight after Monday's Freewheelers ride, John Morton and Iain Wright dashed up to Peterhead to join Bavaria 45 "Shindig" and her owner, Doug. After an agreeable evening in the Blue Toon, a leisurely departure was synchronised with the arrival of a south-easterly force 4, increasing to 5. After a couple of attempts to launch the spinnaker, the conditions were deemed outside the safe operating limit for that equipment, so we settled for 8 knots under regular main and genoa. The Moray coast whizzed by in Mediterranean sailing conditions and we anchored just off Nairn for beer and sunset. High tide at Inverness required an early departure form Nairn Wednesday morning, but we were lucky-enough to coincide with a small pod dolphins off Channonry Point. We were safely docked in Inverness Marina by 9am Wednesday, in time to enjoy a champagne breakfast before catching the train home."
