"8°, F5, Rain - Weather Poor, worsening later
Four
intrepid and lost souls mustered by the Guide Hut at 9am, bracing ourselves at
the prospect of a ride. The weather was pretty shocking. The sort of weather
Archie revels in. Despite some hesitation and potential back-sliding, by the
time quorum had been achieved, Scott, Ian, Archie and John ventured for a
modest loop, up to Knockburn Loch and back. I think our short term memory isn’t
what it should be, as we always forget what a grind uphill it is to achieve
Knockburn, and in the wet and wind. Nevertheless, the spirit was positive and
of course as the water seeped in and the muscles warmed up, we all felt
intrepid were heard muttering, “This isn’t so bad is it? ‘Course it’s not the
weather that’s wrong just need the right clothes…” We all know the script!
Once
our steeds were let loose on the downhill back towards Banchory, it seemed to
take no time at all before we were sitting at Tease sipping hot coffees and
teas, but as we left I saw Tanya mopping our seats up before her next
customers, oh dear…
(Oh,
and Les and fellow Strava-ites, did I tell you about my new bike… No? Well…
amongst other things the phone was in ‘Airplane’ mode so no record of the ride
on Strava, as the GPS was offline, did the ride really happen? Has my new bike
had its first outing or not? Can a ride be said to have happened without a
digital record? Spooky…)"
