Johns M & McW were late cancellations but 5 of us showed up at the Guide Hut, including a very rare appearance from Malcolm Lodge, who, having tended to the horses, then cycled in from his home near Drumoak to join Les, Ken P, Ian Sh and I.
Ian had a pressing engagement for afternoon tea at the Marcliffe, so wanted to keep the ride down to 90 minutes or so, and he suggested we could all head east towards Myrebird and we could go on if we wanted but he would cut off and head back home. In the end, we all stayed together and followed the usual Myrebird loop back through Crathes Castle and out past the brewery. When we got to the top of Lawson Avenue, Ian headed home via Burnett Park whilst the rest of us freewheeled downhill to Tease for refreshments.
The route was a modest 21 kms. For those not yet on Strava, or who haven't viewed it yet, here's a screen shot of our route and the stats from today:
The link to this page is: https://www.strava.com/activities/457939786. Of course, Malcolm probably covered twice this distance, having cycled to Banchory and then back home again after coffee.
Sorry - no photos from today - but I did take some yesterday when I was out on my solo ride:
This is down by the burn at the bend at the foot of the hill after climbing up the Myrebird road |
The burn was pretty swollen |
The road back west towards Crathes was more like a river |
