October week 1 - part 2

Four of us who couldn't make the Monday afternoon ride - just as well as it turned out! - met at the Guide Hut at 10 am on Tuesday and decided to head east in to the wind, with the intention of having it at our backs on the return trip.

We took the Deeside Way to start with, but, when we got to Crathes, we crossed the football pitches and over the stile for the river ride. Back up to the Deeside Way again, then clambered over the padlocked gate to do the reverse route that 13 of us had done the previous Monday. This time, when we got to Park bridge, the team photo was in focus:

Keith Gray, Ian Stewart, Scott Hunter & Peter Seago
From there, it's a question of walking the bikes until you get to the football pitch and then it's back to the Deeside Way again and up to Drum garden centre for tea/coffee and scones.

The reverse route was the by now fairly traditional loop back through Drumshalloch via the recording studio, but with one little twist - Peter took us on a new (to me) off road section for a mile or so near Drum Castle.

Strava records that the distance we covered was 38 kms with 219 m of climbing.
