NW Banchory Circular

A warm, sunny day in Banchory brought the largest turnout yet for the weekly cycle. Only Scott was missing, but Ken made his debut and John was back from his mammoth Southern Hemisphere trip to join Ian, Colin, Malcolm, Robin and I.

Today's route selecter was Sharpy and he devised a cunning plan to get us ultimately to North West Banchory and a stop at the cafe at Inchmarlo Golf. Here's the route:

Not quite a full circle, and the stats show a shorter than normal run of just 75 minutes, but all of us had to go a bit further to get home after the coffee stop - most notably Ken, who had to cycle all the way back to Finzean. Here's how the route elevation looked:

The distance covered was 14 kms and we climbed a total of 208 metres. For the statisticians, the splits were:

Km. Mins Secs Km/hr Mins/km
1.00 3 31 17.1 3.52
2.00 8 12 12.8 4.68
3.00 13 17 11.8 5.08
4.00 19 30 9.7 6.22
5.00 24 10 12.9 4.67
6.00 28 32 13.7 4.37
7.00 31 42 18.9 3.17
8.00 40 45 6.6 9.05
9.00 48 50 7.4 8.08
10.00 52 4 18.6 3.23

14.00 72 46 17.2 3.48
14.19 75 48 19.8 15.96

Our first team photo was just after we joined the Brathens road from Raemoir Road:

The next one was when we sat on the decking at Inchmarlo, having our coffee:

I'm away to Dubai next Wednesday so I won't be around for the next 2 Wednesdays, but there was talk today about changing the day when the golf season starts in April, and Thursday seemed to be the general consensus.

Next week, there are plans to travel further afield, which necessitates an earlier start of 9 am. Watch the e-mails for details.
