Tilquhillie and beyond

With Mr. Sharp off to Dubai and Mr. McWhinnie still somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere, not to mention Malcolm being in Houston apparently en route to his big cycle in South Africa, and with Scott a late withdrawal, there were just 3 of today - Colin, Robin and I.

We opted to cross the Dee and the Feugh and head south, past the small and exclusive Waters of Feugh houses. From there, Robin took Colin and I a merry dance or two round roads we'd never been on, before looping back round to finish our cycle at the Falls of Feugh cafe, where Ian and Malcolm had their coffees last week. Incidentally, apologies for lack of photos on the blog from last week's cycle, but I'm afraid we can't get the staff.

Robin was a great one for encouraging us - "just another short wee hill, then it's all downhill from there". I lost count of the number of times that he said that, but eventually, it all came true and we simply whee'd back towards our morning coffees. To be fair, the upward stretches weren't too bad, but I did have to get off and walk on one of them for the first time.

It was tarmac all the way, but virtually no traffic, which was great. Here's the route:

and the stats:

Almost 15 kms in 75 minutes, including 244 metres of climbing. The 470 calories consumed were soon replaced by fruit scones with cream and jam (which one goes on the scone first?).

The usual team photo with Cairn o' Mount somewhere in the background:

It looks a little gloomy here, but it was a fine dry morning and pretty good conditions for cycling.

I can't make it next Wednesday as I have a dentist appointment, but hope to be back in 2 weeks.
