Durris

Robins' report of today's ride:

"Decisions , Decisions, Decisions.

It was a big day of decisions for the 5 intrepid riders who met at the Feugh Bridge Car Park at 9.30am this wet Wednesday morning.(Archie had already made his decision to stay at home).
Should we head for the Durris mast or just into the Restaurant across the road for an early scone?
We "manned up " and drove to the car park off the road at the top of the Slug.
Despite being assured by me that it would now be all downhill we immediately found ourselves faced with a strenuous ten minute uphill climb.
(I put my hand up and awarded myself a yellow card at the top as one was clearly coming!)
I had carefully printed out copies of the relevant part of my 1988 Ord Survey Map of the area and outlined the proposed route with red marker but the blighters in the Forestry Commission had seen fit to alter the tracks!
This led to more and more decisions as we came to every parting of the ways . Rob pored over his map, Jeff got out his sat nav , Ian declared it was good to be on an adventure and Scott said nothing.Just when we thought we were lost in the woods for ever we met another human being with his 4 dogs and he directed us back to civilisation ,altho not without another wrong turning on the way.
We found ourselves on the road to Woodlands of Durris so we visited that metropolis briefly and then turned for home past legendary places like Meikle Tulloch , Calladrum and Balladrum , Cairnfauld and Knappach.
And so to the final decision of the day . Did we get the cars or the scones first.? That was an easy one!
No photo today of the 5 heroic riders. We were just too wet to be bothered."
