Rob supplied the following narrative and photos and John P the route map.
"Gents, a sturdy half-dozen
gathered at KGV for an autumnal ride. Ian Sharp, Scott Hunter, John Perry, Jeff
Dickens, myself and debutant, Bob Elder. Various routes were discussed, but
because I'm in the sinbin, I just sulked at the back. Eventually Finzean farm
shop was deemed a worthy scone-target. Up past Les' house and Mill o'Cammie and
up the twisty road to the AA box. (There actually is a phone in there, but no
signal). Down to the Feughside Inn and on to Finzean for a well-earned break.
Jeff, pleading a lack of breakfast, hoovered down a bacon-buttie (in true Ed
Milliband style) while the rest of us scoffed the excellent scones. At this
point I made the mistake of checking my Strava and must have managed to turn it
off, 'cos when I got back it only showed 12.6 miles to the cafe.I'm sure that
John will have the full details. On the way back, Jeff calmly suggested that we
take a small side track over the 'foothills' of Scolty. He then proceeded to
stop at his house in Strachan and let the rest of us get on with it!!! Needless
to say the side track was the steepest bit of the day (but no whingeing jocks
this time, so no yellow cards were awarded), however, we all soared up it and
came shooting down into Banchory. A grand cycle."
The stats from John's Strava were 22 miles with almost 1,200 feet of elevation - very impressive. Check http://www.strava.com/activities/218777244
