"Todays ride – Dick has HIS Strava Route – a bit different from my bit due to his late arrival .
Ian
Following a spate of BGB late call off / no shows only ONE
Freewheeler headed of eastward this morning .
Some light rain soon disappeared and some blinks of sunshine
helped me on my adventure – though heavy overnight rain made under wheel
conditions messy – in a nice off road sort of way !!
( Boys and good old fashioned dubs !! )
My plan was to explore the riverbank tracks in the Crathes /
Drumoak area, and i headed behind the St Ternan football pitch , over the stile
and onto the fisherman’s track toward Crathes Bridge and beyond ( see photo of
River Dee / Crathes Bridge ).
So peaceful here, and unobstructed river views.
However once i got to approx Myrebird distance a small burn
appears – narrow enough to jump BUT not with a bike. There was a footpath
beyond – and i suspect more fisherman tracks heading toward Park and beyond .
However i decided not to risk this and turned back and up
Newmill Farm ( ? ) to emerge at Crathes new houses.
I headed Deeside Way eastward but waited for Dick Taylor – Dick
had phoned me 30 mins earlier to say “ he slept in and had decided to get out
of bed and join me “ – see photo of a somewhat breathless Dick catching up !!
Dick suggested up Myrebird / Crathes School / back tracks toward
Catterloch ( ? ) and down via Ale Steading , across to Lochton and down to
Dick’s house where he kindly inflated my bike tyres with his Porche pump – very
smart !!
Coffee / Soup was enjoyed at Tease and home !!
