"Just the 3 cyclists today – Jeff / Jeb / Ian Sh – enjoyed the Banchory sunshine supported by a stiff breeze .
Jeb chose the route – think he
likes Finzean scones & jam – taking us over the Feugh Bridge and up to the
Farmhouse where we debated going round via the Standing Stones. The direction
of the strong breeze quickly convinced us to give that a miss and we headed off
for Strachan and then the AA Box.
Back road to pub and then we
turned ........................ into a very stiff wind all the way to the
Farmshop !!
We deserved our scones !
We really whizzed back to
Strachan with the wind and departed from Jeff - only to seek more adventure !
Jeb had not done the climb up
the Strachan side road & uphill to the edge of Scolty .
Halfway up the steep hill Jeb
pulled that old “ chain problem “ trick and we had to stop to unblock it ( i
didn’t mind too much !! ) ,
After admiring the view at the top
we fairly zoomed round the downhill Scotly tracks via the car park and back to
base.
A good run.
No photos / no stats / no
problem !
A few reminders :
1.
Thursday 2nd
April is 9am start WITH cars / bike carriers – Rob – have you got a route for
us ??
2.
That day we also
start the Sports Village donations ONLY for those who wish .
3.
Now that Spring is
here some of the Freewheelers also take part in other pursuits eg golf etc and
attendances on the cycle runs may decrease depending on whats on. Can i
suggest that anyone who IS going on a particular cycle run CONFIRMS a YES email
in good time BEFORE each run – this is really to ensure that nobody turns up on
their own. It also lets the group know who is coming instead of waiting around
wondering if everyone is there ."Then Jeff supplied this:
"Ian, fer t'blog on t'interweb...
Not
sure we had an agreement for the Monday report, and no picture - but here's an
exercise in minimalism, a map, profile and stats (for my variant anyway - I
think Ian and Jeb were going over the flank of Scolty on the way back, which
would have added a bit).
Salient
facts:
Riders:
Ian Sharp, Jeb Tyrie and Jeff Dickens
Coffee
& Scones: Finzean Farm Shop
Route:
Tilquhillie, Mulloch (not quite to 9 Stanes), Templeton, Glen Dye AA box,
Feughside to Finzean, and back the short route through Strachan (bar Ian and
Jeb's finish maybe).
Conditions:
Clear and dry, but rather windy!
Stats:
38km and 575m (for Jeff)
Verdict:
quite hard work!"Jeff also supplied the following map:
Then Ian, obviously concerned that I wasn't connected and hadn't blogged yet, repeated his earlier report, so apologies for the multiple mentions.
