Greetings from Marbella. Here's Ian's report and photo from yesterday's Deeside ride:
"FIVE BOYS ( remember that chocolate bar ?? ) rode off
this afternoon heading to a secret coffee shop ( photo might give it away !! )
Ian Sh / John P / Mike R / Ken P and Rufus looked at the sky & fearing some
rain decided that a short ish ride would suit.
So off we went up to Inchmarlo Golf Club where John Perry
decided he wanted to view some property in Inchmarlo Care Community !!
At the top of the Estate Gentleman John opened the gate
for us only to be left holding the bolt ! So not only should we not be there
but John was causing damage !
We managed to escape via Home Farm and onwards usual
route to Torphins.
As we cycled the scenic back / side road to Torphins the
rain started - hence the pace increased and we did not get very wet before
taking shelter in the coffee shop where a mixture of teas / coffees were
consumed - along with the remaining scones & jam !
With one or two wishing to be back by 3.30pm, we set off
back - in sunshine
- the usual route
to Campfield Filling Station and down Glassel Road and home via Brathens &
through woods to Burnett Park.
Note that we encountered new gates on this - our usual
route - is someone trying to keep us out ?
Firstly at end farm track at the " housing commune
" on way to Torphins Road.
Another in the woods near the end.
But at least John Perry knows how to break the gates !!
Incidents of note were:
1. John toppling off sideways negotiating the "
woods new gate " - must get rid of these " clip shoes " John -
hope you are ok.
2. We are not sure what Rufus put into his coffee but on
way back he suddenly " powered " his way past us !! ( though he did
slow down again - perhaps needed more of
this substance whatever it was ) !!
A good run in mostly sunshine - I made it 17 or so miles.
John was having a Strava techie problem so not sure if he
will have it this time ??"
John supplied the usual overview of the route:
Strava shows that John completed 23 kms with over 800 feet of climbing - https://www.strava.com/activities/411552199
