"On Monday 8th a total of 8 Freewheelers turned up on a bright but very blustery day .
Bob Elder returned joining Dick , John L , Iain W , Drew , Ian Sh , Mike and myself .
The decision was to go west towards Torphins and have an easy downwind ride back . We went out through Home Farm then took the Craiglash Quarry route up then down into Torphins . The crosswind was really tugging the bikes on the main road section into Torphins .
Most of us did the golf course loop before coffee at Platform 22 with Dick and John opting for first pick of the scones and an earlier break .
We noted that Eddie the Eagle is the guest speaker at the Torphins gala this year (sold out) .
We all sat outside in the sun - quite pleasant out of the wind .
I made it 22k at the coffee stop - most then took the Campfield route home which I estimate to be 34k and about 320m total .
Mike and I took a longer circuit home - Pitmurchie - Kinker - Potarch - Ballogie - Monument - Finzean - home . That was 55k and 560m . Then time for a much needed cold beer at home."
Thursday was a bit damp and there were a few late cancellations from the usual Freewheelers group ride, but a hardy threesome of Dick, Jack and Chris made it out to Drum in the rain:
Elsewhere, Mike may be on holiday in Nice, but he never misses a chance to jump in the saddle. His friendly rival John M is still clocking up the miles, including a round trip via Queens' View, Tarland - a distance of 80 kms with 861 m of climbing.
