"No Strava – so back to old fashioned report !
Only 2 brave souls today.
Various excuses including a knee
operation !!
Jeb & myself set off in the
sunshine headed southward.
We took the back road to Bridge
of Cammie and onwards to AA Box, heading to go up Cairn O Mount - but
were sadly stopped by the sign ( see Photo below ):
So we went across to
Strachan Pub – all this route from Banchory seemed to dodge most of the winds –
probably due to shelter from the trees.
But as we turned towards Finzean
we were severely tested by a gale that was coming at us from Cairn o Mount down
the exposed section of road from Gary’s house to Finzean !
Never has a scone been so well
deserved !
We then headed uphill past the
School and took a right and from here experienced some superb views across the
valley toward snow capped hills ( see poor quality photo ):
We saw a path signpost towards
Shooting Green but missed the path ( need to check Map !! ) – so we headed back
towards Strachan pub.
The run home from here was a “
breeze “ - and with the gale now fully on our backs we got back to Banchory in
record time – via the Bridge of Cammie Route.
Took us 3 hours including a
generous coffee & scone half hour !
No other statistics -
other than the FLAT Finzean section was tough – phew !!!!!!!!!"From the other side of the pond, Malcolm L reported:
"Did a 32 mile run here in Houston on Saturday and 22 miles on Sunday. Santa did not bring a selfie-stick so no photos…and no snow capped hills!"
